Bluegrass Music Online And Your Questions

Laura asks…

bluegrass music…. what dances are there to go along with it?

I am a ballroom/latin/swing dancer primarily. A little bit of hip hop, country and jazz knowledge. I have a friend who goes to hear a bluegrass band and wants to dance. Problem is all of the dances I know don’t really go along with the music so I am improvising. What dances go with bluegrass music? Also are there places online to find video and or instruction (i.e. you tube) so I can learn them? Answers can be technical, I am a fast learner and as mentioned above have background in other dancing.
Thanks for the answers so far… specifically what kinds of partner dances can you dance to bluegrass music?

Donald asks…

My elderly mother is looking for lyrics and music for a song….?

…Can you help? She loves to sing and is wonderful at it.
The words that I “think” we know are as follows. “Oh my feet sometimes stumble but they can’t slow me down. I’ll raise up to meet him when I hear that trumpet sound.” What she knows of it sounds like an old southern hymn or old gospel bluegrass, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. Mom’s 86 years old and I’d love to hear her sing it. Her voice is still so good that she can sing it in church even without the music and bring down the house, but doesn’t always feel physically able. She doesn’t get excited about much nowadays and doesn’t ask much so when she asked for this I began a desperate search to help her find this song. PLEASE help if you can.

Linda asks…

What type of acoustic guitar strings should I buy?

I have an ok acoustic guitar but it needs new strings. I like playing music by artists like John Mayer and Jack Johnson. I know their are different types of acoustic strings, but what type of strings would be the best for this type of music? I’m pretty good at guitar.

I know their are light, medium, and heavy gauge, and steel and nylon strings.
