It’s impossible to be a great violin player without getting formal education about it. Some people may prefer an online violin course, but still many experts will tell you that having the actual physical lesson is still the best way to learn violin. There’s a big difference when you have a teacher beside who can scold you after every mistake made. This will help you develop into a better player, since you’ve become accustomed to an authority who keeps on telling you all the right things.

So how can you find an ideal violin lesson for beginners? It’s really not that hard since there are many qualified teachers who can teach you the tricks inside and out. You just have to look for them, as there are also incompetent violinists passing for a professional teacher.

The easiest way to find a good teacher is by asking your friends about theirs. But first, make sure that your friend is really benefiting from the teacher or the lessons and is showing improvement on his playing. If he is, getting a recommendation from him is a great start.

Another way is to contact a local symphony musician and ask for a recommendation. There should be a lot of teachers working as part-time instructors in your area. It doesn’t necessarily follow that good players are good teachers. You can probably interview him about his experiences or try him out for a few lessons. If he can improve on your playing or your child’s, then hire him for the entire beginner lesson if he does.

Determine what time will be convenient for you or your child to take the lessons and present that time to the teacher. This is the essence of an ideal violin lesson, that you can have it at your preferred schedule. If the time is not convenient, try another teacher who can accommodate clients at your preferred schedule.

If your child is the one who will take the beginner violin lessons, then asking about it in his school would be just about right. As part of their curriculum, many schools actually offer musical instrument lessons. If they have it, then do not hesitate to sign up your child there. Aside from being free, you at least know already that the quality of teaching is acceptable to you.

However, if you really think that an online beginner’s course is the right one for you, then go ahead with it. Just find the good instructor that will teach you from the very basic to the level of expertise that you desire. There is a correct way of holding the bow so even this should be taught in detail. The video you will buy should also have perfect audios and visuals; else the beginner violin lesson is really of no use. Lastly, there should be some exercise materials that the student can use to practice at home. A major part of learning is practice, and you should be able to do just that.

So now you know that there are many ways to go about learning to play the violin. Do not settle for a teacher who will not be an effective one for the job. The violin is a great instrument, but it is only at its best when played beautifully and perfectly.
