Bluegrass Music Online And Your Questions

Laura asks…

bluegrass music…. what dances are there to go along with it?

I am a ballroom/latin/swing dancer primarily. A little bit of hip hop, country and jazz knowledge. I have a friend who goes to hear a bluegrass band and wants to dance. Problem is all of the dances I know don’t really go along with the music so I am improvising. What dances go with bluegrass music? Also are there places online to find video and or instruction (i.e. you tube) so I can learn them? Answers can be technical, I am a fast learner and as mentioned above have background in other dancing.
Thanks for the answers so far… specifically what kinds of partner dances can you dance to bluegrass music?

Your Questions About Acoustic Guitar

Mandy asks…

acoustic guitar?

I’m trying to teach myself how to play acoustic. Do you have to use a guitar pick? Any other tips? =]

Herschel Lawhorn answers:

You don’t have to use a pick unless you want to. You can play with your fingertips which is known as fingerstyle or fingerpicking.
As for tips…practice every day, even if its just for half an hour, learn a new chord every day, and learn some scales.

Guide to Acoustic Guitars : Bluegrass Tablature.

There are two kinds of guitars, namely electric and acoustic guitars. The most common type of guitars is the electric guitar, due to the advancement in technology. However, for those people who understand the real value of quality guitar sounds, opt for the acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars are those that produce sound, without requiring any form of electronic amplification. This is why it is common to find these guitars being referred to as natural sound guitars. They are referred to as acoustic guitars because they use acoustic techniques to amplify the sound produced by the guitar strings. Below are examples of some common acoustic guitars available in the market.
