People looking to play guitar is on the increase thanks to rock becoming popular again. Many of those dreaming of becoming the next guitar god will be looking to find the best way to learn guitar. Here then I have outlined the methods that are available.

There are thousands of books which will show you how to play guitar some better than others. Although some books are brilliantly written and easy to follow they tend to have a lower success rate than other methods. If you are a patient type of person however a book could be right for you.

Another method of learning to play the guitar is to learn by ear. This isn’t for everyone but for those that can pick it up this way they will find it a lot more fun and more satisfying than learning through any other method.

Private lessons are by far the most expensive and time consuming way of learning guitar but they are also the most successful so in many respects they are the best way to learn guitar. If you have the cash and the time to dedicate then this method is highly recommended.

The final method of learning to play the guitar is to use videos. These are becoming a very popular way of learning as they feel more personal than books and they of course make it easy to explain things in a simple step by step method. The only thing they really lack is the feedback which can be gained from a personal teacher.

The best way to learn guitar ultimately boils down to personal preference but the methods which have the highest rates of success are using a private tutor or videos. If you have the cash then the tutor is probably the best of all but for the majority video would be the way to go.
